Why It Matters

5,948 kg of hazardous materials — handled safely

E-waste contains toxic substances that cause serious harm when landfilled. Every kilogram collected by TechCollect NZ is kept out of our soil and waterways.

Lead

Found in circuit boards and CRT screens. Causes neurological damage — especially in children.

Mercury

Used in LCD backlights and switches. Accumulates in the food chain through waterways.

Cadmium

Found in rechargeable batteries and semiconductors. Highly toxic to kidneys and bones.

Brominated flame retardants

Used in plastic casings and cables. Persistent organic pollutants that accumulate in living tissue.
