Impact reporting

Certified data on items collected, weight diverted from landfill, and CO2 emissions avoided — updated after each collection and ready for your own sustainability communications.

Staff and promotional support

Access to TechCollect NZ's team for setup, promotional materials, and ongoing support. We want your collection point to succeed — that helps the whole scheme grow.

A note on collection costs

Unlike our full member brands who fund collection as part of their membership, collection points are responsible for the downstream recycling costs for items they collect. This is similar to how a retailer pays for waste disposal — the recycling cost is the cost of not sending it to landfill. In many cases this can be offset by the value of refurbishable devices, and we can advise you on how to structure this for your site. Contact us to discuss what makes sense for your situation.

Join New Zealand's e-waste network

TechCollect NZ is the only nationally coordinated, not-for-profit e-waste scheme in Aotearoa. When you become a certified collection point, you are part of something bigger — a growing network of repairers, retailers, universities, and community organisations keeping e-waste out of New Zealand landfills.

Frequently asked

What devices can we collect?
The TechCollect NZ scheme covers a wide range of ICT equipment — phones, laptops, tablets, desktop computers, monitors, printers, keyboards, and peripherals. We will confirm the accepted categories for your site as part of the application process. Some categories may not be suitable depending on your storage setup and collection frequency.
How much storage space do we need?
Our standard collection bin is compact and designed to fit in a retail or office environment without taking up significant floor space. We assess storage requirements as part of the site application. High-volume sites such as universities may need a different configuration — we can advise.
How does data security work?
All storage media collected through TechCollect NZ is handled under strict data security protocols. Devices assessed as suitable for refurbishment have their storage professionally wiped to NIST 800-88 standards. Devices that are end-of-life have their storage media physically destroyed. You receive confirmation as part of each collection report.
Can we run a one-off event rather than a permanent collection point?
Yes. Community organisations and schools often start with a single collection event before committing to an ongoing collection point. Contact us to discuss event-based options — we can advise on logistics, bin sizing, promotion, and how to turn a successful event into a permanent drop-off.
We are a repairer — do we have to send everything to TechCollect NZ?
No. You assess and manage devices that have value — repairs, resales, refurbishments. TechCollect NZ handles the downstream for anything that is genuinely end-of-life. The certified recycling pathway is there for you to use when you need it, not to compete with your repair and resale business.
