Whether you run a repair shop, a store, a university, or a community organisation — TechCollect NZ handles everything downstream. Certified recycling, data security, and the compliance paperwork. You get the foot traffic, the badge, and the impact story.
Any business or organisation with a suitable premises can apply. Here is how it works for each type.
Independent repairers and second-hand tech stores
Customers dropping off old devices are exactly the people you want walking through your door. Every drop-off is a conversation — a chance to repair, refurbish, upsell, or trade in. TechCollect NZ handles anything that cannot be given a second life, so you only deal with the devices worth your time.
Independent and boutique technology or electronics retailers
Add a TechCollect NZ drop-off bin to your store and give customers a reason to visit in person. Old-for-new trade cycles drive traffic; certified recycling handles the devices that come back. Co-branding with a nationally recognised, not-for-profit scheme adds credibility to your sustainability story.
Universities, polytechnics, and research campuses
Campus e-waste is a real and growing challenge. Device replacement cycles are short, volumes are high, and sustainability reporting obligations are tightening. TechCollect NZ provides a certified collection pathway with the documented chain of custody your sustainability team needs for annual reporting.
Scouts, schools, sports clubs, community centres
Community e-waste collection events are a proven way to engage your community, raise awareness of responsible tech disposal, and generate a tangible impact story. TechCollect NZ brings the certification, the bins, and the downstream logistics — your organisation brings the community connection.

Access to TechCollect NZ's team for setup, promotional materials, and ongoing support. We want your collection point to succeed — that helps the whole scheme grow.
Unlike our full member brands who fund collection as part of their membership, collection points are responsible for the downstream recycling costs for items they collect. This is similar to how a retailer pays for waste disposal — the recycling cost is the cost of not sending it to landfill. In many cases this can be offset by the value of refurbishable devices, and we can advise you on how to structure this for your site. Contact us to discuss what makes sense for your situation.
TechCollect NZ is the only nationally coordinated, not-for-profit e-waste scheme in Aotearoa. When you become a certified collection point, you are part of something bigger — a growing network of repairers, retailers, universities, and community organisations keeping e-waste out of New Zealand landfills.
